Growing Up Agrarian

We are four Christian, homechurched, homeschooled, homesteading, agrarian children growing up in Central Texas on a Ranch. We are Tracy,(15) Jennifer,(10) Robert,(9) and Sarah(5) Bunker. We also have one more brother, Thomas Shepard Bunker, who is in the courts of glory. We like to read books, raise animals, and play on the land. Tracy will be writing about the stuff we do. We hope you enjoy our Adventures!

Lots of rain here today! We spent a good forty-five minutes bailing the water from the trashcans in the front into the 2500 gallon black catch-water tank. Dad says it's about half full. And, boy, by the time we were done, we were soaked to the bone! It was lots of fun.

We named our rejected piglet Jethro. He is doing well and getting stronger. Tracy keeps Betedine on his wounds and feeds him bovine colostrum about once every hour from a soda bottle fitted with a lamb-sized nipple. At night, he eats about every two hours. His normal feeding is 5 ml. but he eats a lot in the evening. He sleeps the rest of the time, which is very good. He seems to be getting stronger and he can stand on three of his legs, only one of the front ones was punctured in the upper leg close to his chest, we assume by one of his mother's teeth. Please keep our little friend in your prayers.

Tracy is hoping to breed her rabbits October 1st, so we are preparing a nursery hutch and moving all of the hutches behind the tool shed, closer to the house.

We caught our new bull calf Chico and pet him to accustom him to being handled so we can begin working with him when he is weaned. He is so cute, and we look forward to turning him into a well behaved steer.

We are looking forward to Ranchfest 07 and hope it will be a enjoyable time of learning and fellowship. No play is scheduled, unless Jennifer changes her mind about directing one. More info on that later.

Well, until next time, have a wonderful, wet day!

Over and out,
The Bunker Mini-Vets.

It sounds like you children are doing a good job with all your projects. Keep up the good work.
